As well as selling tools via
the baconsdozen web site,I also auction tools on Ebid auctions.You can see them
here,some
are on a buy now,some are conventional auctions.I used to sell a lot of tools
and car spares etc on ebay but the high fees mean it is no longer
viable.There are pitfalls to avoid on any auction site and indeed on any web
site and I offer some tips to avoid paying over the odds for inferior products
or paying and getting nothing at all below.
Bidding for tools at an
online auction? A few auction do's and don'ts. .
Buying tools (or anything else at
auction) could land you a bargain,the rating systems means you used to be able
to judge the sellers and buyers from comments left but this is no longer
true.The variety of things on offer means you might pick up anything from new
spares for your classic car or a set of pre war whitworth spanners.However Ebay
and other auction sites offer rich pickings for con men and fraudsters so take
care.
Don't rely on ebay or paypal to
bail you out if you feel you've been conned,usually they don't want to
know.
Use a credit card to pay for your win,it's quicker and safer,if you
don't feel comfortable giving your details then don't.
If it sounds too good to be
true or it looks too good to be true,then,it probably isn't
true.
If you don't want,need or use
them,then no matter how cheap those tools are,they aren't a
bargain
No contact details for the
vendor? What do you do if your 'bargain tool' is faulty.?
Auction seller ratings should be
a good guide to other bidders experiences,but remember it's possible to buy good
'feedback',on ebay for example without any sale taking place.
Decide the maximum price
you want to bid up to,then stick to it. There's
another day and more auctions tomorrow.
Inflated carriage charges is one
popular rip off,people getting bogus bidders to run the price
up,another.
Tool auctions or indeed
any auctions should save you money ,but not at the expense of
service,guarantee or quality etc..
